13.0   Livestock Husbandry

AP-42 does not address livestock husbandry. Thus, the methodology adopted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is presented here as the primary emissions estimation methodology for this fugitive dust source category. The CARB methodology only provides estimates of PM10 emissions from cattle feedlot and dairy operations. For each category, the emissions are calculated by multiplying a per animal emission factor by the population of each animal type. The sample control measure cost-effectiveness calculation spreadsheet presented for this source category involves frequent scraping and removal of manure from feedlot pens.
