Communications Committee: Meetings & Calls

Committee Conference Call,
August 12, 1999

Participants

Members: Kathy Augustine, Carl Bowman, Cyra Cain, Jeannine Coward, Liza Daley, Pat Murdo, Pat Port and Kathy Van Dame.

Co-Chairs: Barry Aarons, Jan Miller and Al Zemsky.

Coverage at Public Advisory Board/International Projects Committee Meetings

Jan Miller will attend these meetings and represent the CommComm in Las Vegas on August 16-17. The new WRAP slide presentation (which is in final draft) will be presented. Pat Port has agreed to participate in that presentation.

Communications Manual

Thanks expressed to Pat Murdo for the final draft of the Communications Manual. One addition (from Kathy Van Dame): add a list of attendees to requirements for all minutes. Pat will revise. Any additional final comments to Pat Murdo by COB August 17. Following revisions from that date, Al Zemsky will forward revised version to Coordinating Group for final approval.

WRAP Web Site Modifications

Report by Liza Daley.

  • Recommendation to open WRAP Web site for complete scrutiny by the public, including all committee/forum private areas. All areas would have "read-only" public access. Committee and forum members could still access and dialogue on their bulletin boards with use of passwords.
  • After discussion, Committee reached consensus on this recommendation.
  • Liza will work with Sharon Dawn (WGA) to create "draft" and "final" watermarks for all documents posted on Web site.
  • Al Z. will send note to all committee/forum chairs soliciting their comments on the recommendation, with a deadline of August 31.

Al Z. will also contact Sharon to request posting to the home page of three recent letters regarding WRAP planning and funding (WGA request for Mobile Sources Forum to create recommendations on Tier II/sulfur in fuels; July 15, 1999 letter from Bob Perciasepe to Governor Leavitt on augmentation of grant application; and, July 30, 1999 response).

Public Advisory Board Interaction

As raised by Barry Aarons: encourage forums and working groups to engage Public Advisory Board as early in their process as possible. The more public information available as soon as possible is to our benefit in a consensus process. CommComm expressed concurrence.

Slide Presentation

Report by Jan Miller. Kudos to Dan Clark and consultant Jeff Lemke for their excellent work on this project. Intention to show this draft slide presentation at PAB and International Projects Committee meeting August 16-17, soliciting their advice on changes. Those who have reviewed the latest version said the product thus far is visually stunning. Modifications to the copy is underway, with a conference call August 12 among some of the Coordinating Group regarding technical issues.

Mobile Sources Forum Public Meeting

Public meeting is well at hand, thanks to Terry Larson's efforts. The Forum has reached an agreement on the sulfur in fuels recommendation. A Denver public meeting is scheduled on August 23. Terry will serve as note-taker. Forum recommendations will be posted to Web site August 13. There will also be a mailing to a selected list.

Salt Lake City Meeting

The Communications Committee will meet at the conclusion of the next WRAP meeting, in Salt Lake City, on September 17, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Liaison Coordinator

It was confirmed that Jeannine Coward will serve this function. All current liaison appointments will be retained for the present.
