Communications Committee: Meetings & Calls

Committee Conference Call Minutes
June 22, 2000

PRESENT:

Liza Daley, Cyra Cain, Barry Aarons, Carl Bowman, Colleen Delaney, Jan Miller.

NEXT MEETING:

Wednesday, July 5, 9:30 am MDT.

PREPARATIONS FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS NEXT WEEK:

Everything seems to be on track except that not all details are clear for Flagstaff. Jan will call Barry later regarding a chairperson and who will print the handouts. Carl and Liza will talk later to finish arrangements. Jan and Colleen will send out the CD with the PowerPoint presentation tomorrow for overnight delivery, and will include the paper copy of the handouts in case there are problems with the letterhead. The CD for the tribal meeting will go to Bill Grantham. For the presentation, a laptop capable of reading a CD with a file of 35 MB will be needed.

CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING:

Colleen reported that the briefings on June 19 went well and the materials worked well. Attendance was not large, but the Senate especially had lots of questions.

PUBLIC ADVISORY BOARD MEETING:

Jan reported that only 10 (of 22) PAB members attended the meeting on June 21, and they are still struggling to determine their role. Colleen briefed them about market trading, and John Kowalczyk of the Mobile Sources Forum briefed them about the proposed rule to limit sulfur in diesel fuel.

PBS COVERAGE:

The latest information is that KUED will film the public meeting in Salt Lake City on June 28, and will use the footage to introduce a 30-minute program to run late in August.

SUMMARIZING COMMENTS:

We don't know how many public comments we will receive. Jan will talk to Pat Cummins and Bill Grantham about how to send them to Salt Lake City by July 10.

WEB SITE:

Cyra will work on getting better organization and flow for the links to the MTF documents for public comment. Colleen noted that the economic analysis is unlikely to be available until about July 1.
