309 Coordinating Committee: About

The states of AZ, NM, OR, UT, and WY and the county of Albuquerque, NM have submitted regional haze SIPs to the EPA under Section 309 of the regional haze rule. To date, no tribe has announced its intention to submit a 309 TIP, although this is an option to them in the future.

The purpose of the 309 Coordinating Committee is to facilitate ongoing communications among the 309 jurisdictions and to facilitate implementation of the plans, including but not limited to the tracking of renewable energy and energy efficiency use and programs and the tracking of emissions for the SO2 backstop program, clean air corridors, and fires. The committee will also make recommendations to the WRAP Board, as needed, toward improving implementation of programs contained in 309 SIPs and TIPs, and evaluate the value and appropriateness of WRAP involvement in resolving issues among states, tribes, EPA, and other stakeholders on 309 matters.
